December sees record figures for BBC iPlayer

The BBC’s iPlayer has provided best ever traffic figures, with 40m actions to watch BBC programmes in December 2008, its official record month since the service was launched. The on demand facility saw a swell of traffic - up from Novembers 35m figure - and finished the year with an overall number of requests to watch, totalling over 270m.

For the period of Christmas Day to the 31st December, 8m actions were made, with Wallace & Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death the most in demand programme, just in front of the Doctor Who Christmas Special.
